About Family Care

Family Care Magazine

Since 2007, Family Care has informed, entertained, and built a nationwide community of readers interested in content not well covered by mainstream media.

It features topics of interest to family carers (1m+ New Zealanders), disabled people (1.4m), older people, and those living with a palliative or chronic health condition, along with the broad audience of people and services that support them.

Over the years Family Care has become a trusted source of information and advice and every copy and link is widely shared.

Family Care is a place where you can connect with others who have similar life experiences. The magazine is published in print format several times a year with regular digital-only editions.

Laurie Hilsgen, Editor & Publisher

Laurie was a business journalist when her partner had a life-changing stroke. It was a journey that led her to co-found national charity Carers NZ and also Family Care magazine.

“Most of us have a health condition or disability or support family members who rely on us. The magazine helps us all stay connected and informed – putting it together is a joy every time, and I love to hear from readers whose suggestions shape every issue.”
